February 24th: The Long Road Home

10 moments from February 24, across the years

Twenty-four years of February 24ths, and what do we have? A chronicle of someone perpetually in motion, perpetually tinkering, perpetually chasing that next trail or tech solution.

It started simply enough in 2002... discovering the Sleeping Giant Park Association website felt like striking gold, and ordering Emotional Alchemy after an outstanding mountain bike ride seemed like the natural next step. Rest days meant laundry, groceries, and movie night. The rhythm of an active life establishing itself.

By 2003, there's already a fascinating tension emerging. Breaking a PDA and choosing to de-tech, carrying only the cheapest cell phone available. Dreams of Alaska, bike/hike super adventures, trading racing for photography. The eternal negotiation between gear and experience.

Then 2007 arrives with 50-mile rides, sandy whirlpools, and product reviews for tires that handle whatever Mother Nature throws their way. The same day brings wandering town for three hours after Double Hauls at the Board Room, testing new blogging software. Always testing something.

The years roll forward. Seeley Lake training rides in 2008. The Spirit photo in 2010, capturing Pipestone Valley's vastness and the yearning to explore it. Fallen trees on Pipestone Pass in 2012, bending in what looked like grief for a fallen friend.

Fast forward to 2024, and there's Mo, skate skiing Pattee Canyon, lungs staging a coup but hearts still young. Then 2025, comparing blogging platforms, still tinkering with tools to capture all these moments.

Some things change. Some things don't. The mountains remain, the trails wait, and February 24th keeps collecting stories worth telling.
