Looking back through my January 29th posts, there's a curious pattern of things going sideways... and then finding ways to fix them. In 2001, it was finally waking up headache-free after two months. By 2006, I was camping out at Break Expresso until 9 PM, downloading Windows XP updates after Geek Squad thoroughly botched my computer repair.
The remedies evolved over the years. Winter mountain adventures replaced networking sessions. Workplace escape fantasies gave way to actual Thursday night rides. And by this year, when ADHD derailed my mention-a-versary plans, the solution was simple: grab Orca the gravel bike and pedal downtown until my brain remembered how to be human again.
What strikes me is how consistently January 29th demands some form of rescue operation, whether it's fixing computers, fixing plans, or just fixing the particular brand of winter restlessness that seems to hit right about now. The constant? Getting outside always works. Sometimes the best solutions are the ones that don't require tech support.
